The 3 women in the sketch represent types: 1 – confident, individualistic, always searching for what’s new; 2 – constantly looking to magazines and “celebrity culture” for inspiration and reassurance; 3 – low self-esteem.

Script
(Enter 1, 2 and 3 from different directions, each holding an envelope. They open the envelope.)
All: A party!
(The next few lines are said to the audience. There is no sense that the women are talking to each other or that they can even hear each other)
1: (excited) Oh, great!
2: (cautious) No wait.
3: (despondent) I look a state!
I must do something with my hair…
1: I need a look that’s so “out there.”
2: Now, what would Paris Hilton wear?
(They go behind 3 changing screens on stage. For the next few lines, they toss random items of clothing over the top of the screen as if to emphasise what they are saying)
1: They’ll crown me the next fashion queen.
3: I can’t wear that, it looks obscene.
2: I did see something in a magazine…
…that photo shoot in Mississippi.
3: It’s just no use; I look too “hippy.”
1: No. That just won’t go with my lippy.
3: I must stop drinking all that beer.
1: That’s what I need to say “I’m here.”
2: According to Vogue that’s so “last year.”
1: Oh, this is sure to turn their eyes.
2: Now don’t forget to accessorise.
3: But will this cover up my thighs?
1: This look is unique. Yes, this is me!
2: This look is so chic – from page 53.
3: Do I look a freak? Oh well, we’ll see.
I guess it will just have to do.
(They all step out from behind the screens – all wearing the same outfit. They notice each other)
All: Oh, hello there. That’s really… (disdainfully) you!
