Prodigal Daughter
I felt the hope slipping away,
Overwhelmed I wept this day
Crying out to you my friend,
For me this had to be the end
I turned from you, I didn’t understand,
How you could have let this happen
Even though I knew of Your love,
I couldn’t feel it any more
I tried to go my own way,
I only got further lost in my pain
It took me a long long time,
And I tried everything
Then I turned back to you,
You’d been there all along
You took me back no questions asked,
And gave me a new start
Now here I am on the road to heaven,
Laughing, loving, joyful and healing
Thank you Lord for lifting me up,
Helping me forgive and rise above
I think I decided at some point,
to leave your love anointed
Then return like the Prodigal Son,
Thank you Lord for your stories of love
